The process is something University of Alabama fans have become familiar with over the last few years, but over the course of Alabama women’s basketball coach Kristy Curry’s tenure with the Crimson Tide, it has never seemed so prevalent.
Alabama’s 7-0 start is a mark of the hard work that the process preaches over the offseason and also is a testament to the steps Curry has taken to build the foundation for her program.
“Obviously, the process is a term that’s well used within this athletic department, and there’s a tremendous road map for each day being the best that you can be because you have every resource in the world, the classroom, the court, facilities and the academic resources to be successful,” Curry said.
With the road map in front of the Crimson Tide, the next question becomes, "Who is driving?"
The answer is Curry. There’s a new leader every time her team takes the floor, and an unselfish, well-rounded group is certainly nothing that bothers the Crimson Tide coaching staff.
The next stop on the Crimson Tide’s trip is another test that the team hasn’t been challenged with this season, a road game against Georgetown. It will be the 100th game for Curry as Alabama's head coach.
Alabama plays at Georgetown (7-2) Sunday at 1 p.m. It's Alabama's first road game of the season after opening with seven consecutive home games, its longest home stand to start a season in program history.
Alabama is led in scoring by Meoshonti Knight's 13.9 points per game and, in rebounding, with 7.1 rebounds per game, by Shaquera Wade. Four players average in double digits in scoring, led by Knight, and also including Wade (12.0), Hanna Cook (11.3) and Quanetria Bolton (10.7), and it has been outscoring its opponents by an average of 37.0 points per game thus far.
Georgetown has won its last six games and is led in scoring and rebounding by Faith Woodard, who is averaging 15.8 points and 9.2 rebounds. Georgetown is averaging 66.0 points per game and is coached by Natasha Adair. In her third season, Adair went from 4-27 in 2014-15 to 16-12 last season.
