Alabama’s upcoming modified A-Day game will kick off at noon CT on April 12, the university’s NIL collective announced Friday. Unlike in recent years, the event will not be broadcast live. However, fans will still be able to attend the event for free.
As usual, Alabama will honor its previous team captains before the game. Quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker, safety Malachi Moore and linebacker Deontae Lawson will all have their hand and footprints cemented beside Denny Chimes on The Quad.
This will be Alabama’s second A-Day game under head coach Kalen DeBoer. Last year, DeBoer changed up the A-Day format, moving away from the typical setup of first-team offense/second-team defense vs. first-team defense/second-team offense.
Earlier this month, DeBoer hinted that there will be additional changes to the scrimmage’s setup this year. Earlier this month, DeBoer hinted that there will be additional changes to the scrimmage’s setup this year. Several programs have canceled their spring games, citing injuries or tampering in the transfer portal as the reason.
“A lot of times here, the A-Day Game, it’s been more of a practice, and there’s been some scrimmaging, not necessarily much of a game,” DeBoer told On3. “Even when I was at Fresno State, we called it the spring preview. Especially this year, there’s some things we’re working through with some injuries and so forth. So it’ll definitely be modified.”
Alabama will open spring camp Monday with the first of 15 practices.
