Tanner Bowles, three-star offensive tackle from Glasgow High School in Kentucky, announced his commitment to the University of Alabama on Sunday. He was in Tuscaloosa on Saturday for A-Day.
"Getting to know the current players and the future players I will be playing with assisted me," Bowles said when asked why he went ahead with his decision. "I enjoyed talking to them (players/recruits) and also Coach Key seems like the type of coach I want to play for. They said they believe I can play all five (positions on the OL).
"I committed yesterday around 3:30. I was looking for the coaches. I asked how many offensive line commitments they had. After they told me I informed them that I wanted to be the next. Coach Saban told me it was a great day for Alabama."
Bowles spoke a little bit more about the Crimson Tide's offensive line coach.
"I love Coach Key," he said. "He's the type that's not going to be easy. He is going to get you better. He knows how to get the best potential out of his players."
The 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman hopes to graduate in December. His offer sheet includes Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford, USC and many others.
"It was very balanced between almost all the universities, but to me it was very obvious that Alabama was the one that I felt most comfortable," Bowles stated.
"Just the way that they play the game. They are going to get the best out of you. Also the atmosphere by the fans is out of this world."
