A familiar face could be headed back to Tuscaloosa.
Joe Pannunzio interviewed for the University of Alabama's vacant tight ends/special teams coach position, The Tuscaloosa News has learned. If offered the job, he is expected to accept.
Pannunzio previously served on Nick Saban's staff in an administrative role as the director of football operations, overseeing several aspects of the program. He left UA to take a role on the Philadelphia Eagles staff following the 2014 season.
Pannunzio is a veteran coach and has worked at several stops as a tight ends/special teams coach since 1990. He last served as an on-the-field coach at Miami from 2006-10. He joined the Alabama staff, where he worked four years, in 2011.
