The wait is over for Eddie Jackson. The former Alabama safety became the 10th Crimson Tide player off the board when he was selected with the No. 112 overall pick in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Johnson joins Marlon Humphrey (No. 16, Baltimore Ravens), Jonathan Allen (No. 17, Washington Redskins), O.J. Howard (No. 19, Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Reuben Foster (No. 31, San Francisco 49ers), Cam Robinson (No. 34, Jacksonville Jaguars), Ryan Anderson (No. 49, Washington Redskins), Dalvin Tomlinson (No. 55, New York Giants), Tim Williams (No. 78, Baltimore Ravens) and ArDarius Stewart (No. 79, New York Jets) as fellow Alabama draftees.
Jackson saw his Alabama career come to an abrupt end last season when he suffered a season-ending broken leg while returning a punt against Texas A&M. Before the injury, the senior safety led the NCAA averaging 23 yards per punt return. Jackson returned two of his 11 punt returns for touchdowns, including an 85-yard return against Ole Miss to help spur an Alabama comeback in Oxford, Miss.
Jackson also returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown against Western Kentucky and ended his career as Alabama's all-time leader in interception return yards with 303 across nine interceptions. Despite only playing in eight games last season, he was voted as one of the Tide's four permanent captains by his teammates.
