Dream comes true for No.1 kicker

Joseph Bulovas, three-star kicker from Mandeville High School in Louisiana, jumped on the opportunity to join Alabama's 2017 class.

"I went to Alabama's kicking camp during the summer, but I did not have any contact with them until this past Sunday when I went up there for an unofficial visit," Bulovas said. "I met with Coach Saban. He is really the only coach I have spoken with.

"He explained their situation to me. He cut right to the chase. He offered me. He said I have the opportunity to be the guy for the next four years. I really wanted to find a school where I would have the opportunity to kick for four years.

"Alabama offers that opportunity. I knew right then it was where I wanted to go. Alabama has always been my dream school. I jumped on the offer right then."

Bulovas was a long-time commitment to Georgia Tech.

"I was committed to Georgia Tech the entire summer up until earlier this week," he said. "It was tough especially when you have mixed emotions. Alabama was my dream school, but at the same time I had to tell a coach who has recruited me for a long time I was no longer going to their school."

Mississippi State was another SEC program hoping to steal Bulovas away from the Yellow Jackets. Alabama was an easy choice when the offer was on the table.

"I love the facilities, coaching, atmosphere and campus," Bulovas said. "I don't think it's comparable to any other school. I knew when I went to their camp it was where I wanted to be.

"It's just all really exciting. It all happened really fast. God took care of me. He put me in a great place to be successful."

The U.S. Army All-American is ranked the No.1 kicker in the country according to Rivals.com. He joins a class which also includes long snapper, Thomas Fletcher. The two formed a friendship in San Antonio earlier this month.
