Brent Calloway arrested

Freshman University of Alabama running back Brent Calloway was charged with marijuana possession early Friday morning after police saw him in a vehicle driving near Bryant-Denny Stadium without headlights.
Officers noticed a strong marijuana smell when they stopped the vehicle in the 900 block of Paul W. Bryant Drive at 12:45 a.m. in which Calloway, 18, was a passenger, said Tuscaloosa Police spokesman Sgt. Brent Blankley. The officers found a small bag containing marijuana "on (Calloway's) person," Blankley said.

He was charged with second-degree possession of marijuana and released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail on $1,000 bond.
"Coach Saban is aware of the situation and like all other disciplinary action, this will be handled internally," Associate Athletics Director Jeff Purinton said Friday morning.
Calloway, who has yet to take the field this season, was one of the state's highest-sought recruits.
Calloway, a 4-Star recruit from Russellville, signed with the Alabama football program in February as part of the 2011 signing class, ending his see-saw recruitment. Calloway originally gave his verbal committed to Alabama in the summer of 2009 before switching to in-state rival Auburn in the weeks leading up to National Signing Day. A last minute change of heart saw him sign with the Crimson Tide.
