Alabama/Florida recruiting battles

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators will meet for the second consecutive year in the SEC Championship game on Saturday in Atlanta. The SEC heavyweights continue to battle for elite prospects.

Leatherwood is one of Alabama's top overall commitments in the 2017 class. He has been firm with his commitment, but has continued to take visits. Leatherwood is expected to take a visit to Florida next weekend. He is also considering others, but there isn't much concern about him changing his mind to sign with the defending national champions.

Wade is another elite prospect schools are hoping to flip. Rumors have been circulating for months about a possible flip to Alabama. He has family ties in Alabama, and has visited Tuscaloosa several times. He was at Alabama for an official visit last weekend. Florida is also putting on the full court press while the Buckeyes are trying to hold off the two schools playing in the SEC Championship this weekend.

Watch for Ray's stock to continue to climb after a sensational senior season. He should move to the No.1 player in Alabama. Ray is a top priority for several schools including Alabama and Florida. He will take official visits in January before making a decision.

Parks was considered an Alabama-Florida battle early in his recruitment. He grew up a Florida fan, and has been to Gainesville several times. However, he has not visited Florida since the spring. Are the Gators now on the outside looking in? Parks has high interest in Alabama and remains a top target.

Ruggs had a tremendous senior season, and he is now a must-get for several schools including Alabama and Florida. Both programs are in his top five and will receive official visits in January. He visited Tuscaloosa and Gainesville this fall.
