The University of Alabama is expected to name Brian Daboll as its next offensive coordinator, The Tuscaloosa News has confirmed. The hire was reported Friday night by ESPN's Chris Low.

Daboll will become the sixth offensive coordinator under Nick Saban in 11 seasons in Tuscaloosa. He worked under Saban as a graduate assistant at Michigan State in 1998-99.

The 41-year-old Daboll has worked exclusively in the National Football League since 2000, including 12 seasons in three different stays with the five-time Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. He has four years of experience as an offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns (2009-10), Miami Dolphins (2011) and Kansas City Chiefs (2012).

Most recently Daboll worked as the Patriots' tight ends coach (2014-17).

The position became vacant after Steve Sarkisian took the same position with the Atlanta Falcons. Sarkisian served one game in that capacity - Alabama's national championship game loss to Clemson last month - after being promoted when Lane Kiffin stepped down after taking the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic.

UA has not made any announcement about an offensive coordiantor hire.
