Alabama lands center

J.C. Hassenauer, three-star center from East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minn., impressed the Alabama coaches on Saturday at the Tide's OL/DL camp. He earned an offer from head coach Nick Saban. He wasted little time making a decision.
His father, Michael Hassenauer, confirmed the commitment to Alabama via text on Monday evening.

The 6-foot-3, 295-pound lineman has other scholarship offers from Minnesota and Vanderbilt prior to collecting one from the defending national champions on Saturday.
Hassenauer attended the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour in Chicago earlier this spring. He was named the No. 4 overall offensive performer at the camp. Rivals.com recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt had this to say about Hassenauer's performance.
"Hassenauer has been steadily improving every camp we have seen him in the past year, and he capped off his progression with the offensive line MVP at the Chicago Rivals Camp," said Helmholdt. "Hassenauer is a true offensive center prospect, which adds to his value in college coaches' eyes. In his pass-pro he is able to punch, extend and move his feet to stay in front of the defender while never lunging and losing his balance."
Hassenauer was named the No. 20 overall camp performer on the offensive line throughout the entire Rivals Camp Series (15 camps across the country).
