RUNNING BACK

The 2019 recruiting class is now on the clock.

The Recruiting Big Board is a look at how Alabama stacks up both now and in the future at every position. Inside we will take a look at the Crimson Tide’s current needs and possible players it might add to replace them.

Today’s breakdown: Running back

RETURNING (5)

Damien Harris, Sr.

Josh Jacobs, Jr.

Najee Harris, So.

Brian Robinson, So.

NEW ADDITIONS (1)

Jerome Ford

OVERVIEW

Alabama is once again loaded at the running back position. Damien Harris’ decision to return for his senior season gives the Crimson Tide an embarrassment of riches as he provides an experienced option to a backfield stacked with playmakers.

Five-star freshman Najee Harris led Alabama in rushing during the national championship game and appears poised for a breakout year this season. Josh Jacobs will also return and should continue his role as a change-of-pace back. Then there’s former four-star Brian Robinson who could be in line to take on an expanded role with more playing time.

True freshman Jerome Ford could also provide a change-of-pace ability to the rotation. Alabama could also choose to redshirt Ford due to its depth at the position. However, the Crimson Tide elected not to redshirt Najee Harris and Brian Robinson last season. Redshirt senior Ronnie Clark might not see much playing time, but he should offer more veteran leadership to the group.
