Alabama Crimson Tide: Weekly recruiting thoughts
Ty Simpson, Rivals100 quarterback from Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee, hasn’t enjoyed a typical recruiting experience during college football games this fall. He has attended games, but without any contact with coaches touring the facilities, watching pre-game warm-ups on the sidelines or in the locker room post game. He is in the same boat as all the other recruits during this unfortunate pandemic.
Simpson is one of the top overall players in the 2022 class. His recruitment started prior to COVID-19 which allowed him to take several recruiting visits. He has seen several top schools on his short list. He has visited Alabama six times including the Tide’s 63-3 win against Kentucky on Saturday.
“The trip was great regardless of not getting the recruit experience,” Simpson said. “It was fun just watching as a fan. It’s always a good thing to be in the game day atmosphere. You can see yourself returning with your kids one day. This isn’t a four-year decision. This is a 40-year decision.
“I really enjoyed it even though the game really wasn’t a game. It was good to see how dominant they (Alabama) are. Their offense is awesome. They were off for two weeks and still able to execute and not lose focus. The fact they were able to do that is really impressive.
