Alabama is just one day away from its first scrimmage of fall camp. Before that, it's time for a new edition of the 3-2-1 where we offer three things we've learned, two questions we're asking and one prediction.
Three things we learned
1. Saban updates injury concerns
For the most part, Alabama’s fall camp has been more about players returning to the field from injuries rather than leaving it. However, this week has seen two members of the Crimson Tide don black, no-contact jerseys during practice.
Freshman VanDarius Cowan was first spotted wearing a black jersey during Alabama’s open practice last Saturday and has not participated with the rest of the outside linebackers since, missing the past five practices. Fellow outside linebacker Jamey Mosley is also out, wearing a black jersey for the first time on Thursday after appearing to be limited during Wednesday’s workout. During his Thursday news conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave updates on the statuses of both players moving forward.
"Jamey Mosley is in concussion protocol,” Saban said. “VanDarius Cowan has a back injury that flared up on him from high school. He's making his way back."
