Mac Markway is spending his June trekking across the country to visit some of college football’s most recognizable programs.
The four-star 2023 tight end from St. Louis De Smet Jesuit High School has gone to the South to see Alabama and LSU. He has done the Midwest swing to see Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. He made the quick drive to in-state Missouri. He has Florida and USC visits on tap to close the month.
Even in that busy visit tour, though, the June 18 trip to South Bend stood out to him.
“They’re different than any other school we visited,” Markway said of Notre Dame. “They just have that old-school and new-school feel. They have a little bit of everything.”
There’s also a familiar face on campus. Markway’s father, Matt, was an assistant coach at St. Louis’ St. John Vianney High School when Notre Dame junior running back Kyren Williams played there. Williams took some time out of his weekend to meet up with them. So did the Irish’s freshman All-American who plays Markway’s position.
