2022 Safety Sherrod Covil couldn't help but be shocked when he found himself on the phone with Alabama coach Nick Saban on July 9.

“It is a huge opportunity," Covil said. "I have a chance to go play at Alabama. That’s one of the biggest colleges right now, and (I'm) just grateful for everything that is happening right now.”

The Crimson Tide is just one of 21 schools to extend an offer to the 2022 prospect. Virginia, Notre Dame and LSU are just three programs Alabama will have to compete with for his signature.
