Bolden a big mover in updated Rivals250

MORE: The Rivals250 | Rivals250 expert chat | Rivals100: Four new five-stars

With the release of the Rivals250, directly following the release of the Rivals100, it doesn't take long to track down the biggest mover.

Sitting on the cusp of the top 100 is Orchard Lake (Mich.) St. Mary's quarterback Robert Bolden at No. 101. Bolden jumps from outside the Rivals250 to the No. 101 spot after some impressive camp performances. Bolden stood out at the Elite 11 Quarterbacks Camp in California, where Barry Every gave Bolden the third-best grade.

Bolden's jump highlights several big movers in the release of the final preseason edition of the Rivals250.

"Bolden ... has the potential to one day take over a game by land or by air," Every said following the Elite 11 camp. "We cannot overlook his superior arm strength and quick release. He can really thread the needle."

Another quarterback who made a big jump is Texas commit Connor Wood. Wood has attended several camps during the offseason, but he finally put together a complete outing and showed the kind of potential he has as a quarterback at the Top Gun Camp in Florida. At that camp, Wood was accurate on the run, showed good velocity on his passes and a nice deep ball, all while demonstrating the special athleticism that he possesses.

Thanks in part to Wood's performance at Top Gun, he jumped from No. 180 in the rankings to No. 113.

Also at the Top Gun Camp was Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio. Kouandjio had previously been absent from the Rivals250. But after a strong showing against one of the best defensive line groups you will find anywhere, he makes his Rivals250 debut at No. 118.

Other new additions to the top 250 include a familiar name in Washington quarterback commit Nick Montana (No. 163). Bronson Irwin at No. 181 debuts after dominating the Oklahoma Camp and the NUC Ultimate Camp in Norman late this summer.

Wide receiver Keiwone Malone moves back into the Rivals250 after a brief hiatus when he reaffirmed his ranking in his first game of the season, catching two touchdown passes - including one with only one hand.

Notre Dame commit Prince Shembo, California commit Davon Dunn, Penn State commit Adrian Coxson, Miami commit Javarie Johnson and USC commit Randall Telfer round out the new members of the Rivals250.

In order for new players to move into the rankings a few prospects had to slip, and several of those prospects have been mainstays in the rankings for a long time. Marvin Robinson, Gideon Ajagbe, Ricardo Miller and Sean Parker all took major slides to find themselves on the outside looking in to the Rivals250.

With the new shuffling of the rankings, Florida remains on top of the state tally with the gap closing. Florida has 39 natives represented in the top 250; California edged closer with 36 prospects, and Texas rounds out the big three with 34.

Outside of the big three talent-producing states, Georgia leads the way with 16 prospects in the top 250, and Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina and Pennsylvania all follow with eight prospects each.

With the camp season over, the homestretch is here not only for the recruiting season but also for the final high school football season for the 2010 class. Camps and combines are over; now it is time to prove it where it matters - with the pads.
