Alabama lands two elite 2016 commitments during camp on Tuesday
Seventy-two hours ago, Alabama was without a commitment for its 2016 class.
That zero is a thing of the past.
With its football camp in full swing, Alabama picked up a pair of commitments - cornerback Shyheim Carter and receiver Demetris Robertson - on Tuesday, giving the Crimson Tide three total 2016 commitments in the past three days.
Carter, a Kentwood High (La.) standout listed as a 5-foot-10, 181-pound athlete, had offers from Clemson, Georgia, Texas A&M and Mississippi State. At this point, he is expected to play corner at the college level. He is expected to be rated as one of the top cornerbacks in the nation when Rivals.com releases its 2016 rankings.
Robertson, a speedy 6-foot, 169-pound pass catcher from Savannah, Ga., has a slew of major Division I offers already including Auburn, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame and several others.
The link between both? They were participants in Alabama's camp, which began in Tuscaloosa on Sunday.
The first to pledge to Alabama in 2016 was defensive tackle Benito Jones, who pledged at the start of camp on Sunday.
Tuesday had shades of a recent single-day coup for the Crimson Tide. Alabama landed four four-or five-star 2015 commitments - Minkah Fitzpatrick, Shawn Burgess-Becker, Calvin Ridley and Leo Lewis - following the team's A-Day in April.
