2014 SEC Media Days: Dumbest questions from Day 1 in Hoover

HOOVER | Gather some 1,200 media members for four days of access to coaches and players at SEC Media Days and there are bound to be some questionable queries. Here is a look at Monday's dumbest questions.

1. Sometimes it's only a stupid question if you expect an answer. With Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall recently cited for possession and an ongoing national debate about legalization, this question to Tigers coach Gus Malzahn made a certain amount of sense, but no way was it going to get an answer.

Q: What is your feeling on the use of marijuana by student-athletes? It's not just Auburn where this issue has risen. Is it something you see a lot? Is it something you proactively try to address?

A: Well, we have school rules. Of course, I have team rules. We abide by them.

2. Conference realignment, and the addition of Missouri and Texas A&M to the SEC last season, can be confusing. For some, a little too confusing, but at least Florida coach Will Muschamp knows his team's division.

Q: I wanted your thoughts now with Missouri, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida being so competitive in the SEC East, what gets you excited about this coming season competing for the SEC West and a trip to Atlanta.
A: We're going to compete in the East, but we have t o compete against two very good teams in the West.

3. Florida's attempt to bounce back from a four-win season was a hot topic. One reporter took a different approach with UF defensive end Dante Fowler.

Q: Why are you guys going to be the team to beat in the SEC?
A: We are going to be the team to beat this year because I feel like we know we have that bad taste and that bad season last year nobody really expected.

4. Even a good question has to be asked well. This one, to Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason, wasn't.

Q: As a father, I was sitting at a table, you came in recruiting, how is your 2015 class going?
A: You know, recruiting right now is going extremely well.
