Marcell Dareus arrested
Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was arrested Monday evening by an Alabama State Trooper in Cleburne County and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
The former University of Alabama All-American defensive lineman was held at the Cleburne County Jail for 30 minutes and released, according to the Cleburne County Sheriff's Office.
Dareus was stopped by an Alabama State Trooper at 8:30 p.m. for speeding on Interstate 20 at Exit 210 in Cleburne County. According to a release by the Alabama Department of Public Safety, "After investigating further, the trooper arrested the driver, Marcell Dareus, for felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dareus was placed in the Cleburne County Jail."
Dareus could not be reached for comment.
The Bills drafted Dareus with the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. In his third season in Buffalo, Dareus was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after a season in which he recorded 71 total tackles and 7.5 sacks.
