Rumph to Texas

Alabama defensive line coach Chris Rumph accepted the same position at Texas, The Tuscaloosa News has learned.

Rumph spent three seasons as the Crimson Tide's defensive line coach, helping develop Damon Square, Jesse Williams and Ed Stinson among others.

Rumph received a $50,000 raise in April 2013 to bring his total yearly salary to $360,000.

It's the second offseason coaching change for Alabama. Lane Kiffin was hired Friday as offensive coordinator to replace departing assistant coach Doug Nussmeier, who took the offensive coordinator position at Michigan.

Alabama defenses thrived during Rumph's three seasons, ranking as the No. 1 overall defense in 2011 and 2012.
