Utes lead for Morris

With one official visit in the books, Mesa (Ariz.) Community College cornerback Demarlon Morris has a favorite. The process to this point has been that simple.

His tour of Utah apparently went well. He saw the campus, met the coaching staff in person and took in a game. After he returned to Arizona, he named the Utes as his leader, and that was that.

"It was nice out there," Morris said on Thursday. "The thing that stood out to me the most was seeing the team compete. The coaches, too. They're great. You know what I'm saying? They have that team competing."

The bad news for Utah is that, at least in recruiting terms, it's still early. California pulled the trigger on an offer on Wednesday and that may not be the end of the new interest. For now, though, the three-star prospect is concentrating on the offers he does have.

"I just want to know more about the schools that have offered," Morris said. "I just want to keep finding out more and leading my life."

Next up for Morris is a trip to Kansas State, which recently made things official with an offer. Morris will visit Manhattan, Kan., for the Wildcats' Oct. 26 game against West Virginia. It's a trip from which the defensive back has no idea what to expect.

"I really don't know much about them," Morris said. "I know that they're up and down. Last year, they only had the one loss - to Baylor - and this year they're kind of having a downfall. I'm going to up there to see what they're are about and see what they have to offer me and all that stuff."

While new interest arrives and buzz continues to build around Morris, one team has apparently withdrawn itself from the running. Morris doesn't want to speculate on what changed but, for one reason or another, Wisconsin has vanished from his recruitment.

Morris says he has no clue whether or not his offer from the Badgers still stands, but says he doesn't care much either way.

"I haven't really been hearing from them or anything," he said. "Like I said, I'm just focusing on what I have. If they don't want me, they don't want me."

Morris plans to graduate from Mesa in December and join the school of his choice for spring practice.
