SEC Power Poll: Week 7

SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE POWER RANKINGS
RANK
LW

TEAM

1

1

Alabama Crimson Tide
Record: 5-0 (2-0)
Can Alabama's defense go a fourth straight game without allowing a touchdown? Can it go a full week without some off-the-field drama? The collective Crimson Tide fan base would be grateful to have both, for once.

2

2

Georgia Bulldogs
Record: 4-1 (3-0)
How many injuries did Georgia suffer against Tennessee last Saturday? They're thinking of changing the name from Obamacare to Ugacare.

3

3

LSU Tigers
Record: 5-1 (2-1)
Saturday's game against Florida will decide whether LSU is a contender or merely a spoiler going forward -- and if you think LSU fans are angry about the SEC schedule now, just wait and see the gumbo fly if the Tigers lose to Florida, then beat Alabama and still miss out on a trip to Atlanta.

4

4

Texas A&M Aggies
Record: 4-1 (1-1)
Johnny Manziel is playing like a Ferrari on a team whose defense is like a used tricycle.

5

6

Florida Gators
Record: 4-1 (3-0)
Honestly, Florida could still finish anywhere from 11-1 to 6-6, although I think we will have a much better idea of what it will be after this week. Defense does give them a chance every week, though.

6

5

South Carolina Gamecocks
Record: 4-1 (2-1)
You've heard of "winning ugly?" South Carolina is winning miserably. It beats losing, but Steve Spurrier seems like he is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

7

7

Missouri Tigers
Record: 5-0 (1-0)
The Tigers are suddenly 5-0 and on the doorstep of being East Division contenders. One hint, Tigers. If you want to be taken seriously in the SEC, you don't stand on the stoop and politely ring the doorbell. You kick the door in if you can.

8

9

Auburn Tigers
Record: 4-1 (2-1)
The Tigers, in less than a year, have executed a turnaround that says a lot about Gus Malzahn and a good bit about his predecessor.

9

8

Ole Miss Rebels
Record: 3-2 (1-2)
t has been two bruising losses in a row for the Rebels. Maybe they need to take their minds off football for a while and go enjoy a nice play or something. Wait, on second thought...

10

12

Tennessee Volunteers
Record: 2-2 (0-0)
The only thing I could think of as Pig Howard lost his grip on the ball diving for the Georgia end zone last Saturday was that karma was finally collecting what was owed for the Clint Stoerner fumble in 1998 that kept UT unbeaten in an eventual BCS Championship season. Karma never hurries.

11

13

Mississippi State Bulldogs
Record: 2-3 (0-2)
There is starting to be some muttering about Dan Mullen's future, but short of leaving the SEC West, I am not sure what move MSU could make to improve things.

12

10

Vanderbilt Commodores
Record:3-3 (0-3)
We have definitely gone from "Anchor Down" to "Entire Team Down" in Nashville.

13

11

Arkansas Razorbacks
Record: 3-3 (0-2)
Before and after last Saturday's game, Florida players accused Arkansas of "dirty play," including spitting at the bottom of the pile after tackles. Which is actually considered a form of greeting in most parts of Arkansas.

14

14

Kentucky Wildcats
Record: 1-4 (0-2)
Mark Stoops is a good coach, doing a solid job this year and has every chance of finishing the season 2-10. Tells you something about the SEC.
