WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Alabama says goodbye to seniors
TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama women's basketball team will play its final game of the regular season when it hosts Missouri at 2 p.m. today.
Jessica Merritt and Meghan Perkins will be recognized in the team's senior day festivities before the game.
Alabama (12-16, 2-13 Southeastern Conferece) and Missouri (16-13, 5-10 SEC) are meeting for only the fourth time. The Tigers lead the series 2-1, including a 78-70 victory the last time the two teams met, Nov. 24, 2006.
The Crimson Tide's lone win in the series came on March 13, 2002, 68-67, in Columbia, Mo.
Alabama has lost its last nine games. Throughout that stretch, the Crimson Tide has averaged 56.8 points per game. Prior to that, Alabama was averaging 70.5 points per game.
Last time out, the Crimson Tide lost 76-42 at LSU, shooting 28.6 percent. Alabama also committed 21 fouls, resulting in 26 made free throws for the Tigers. Sophomore Daisha Simmons led the Crimson Tide with 10 points, while junior Jasmine Robinson had a team-high seven rebounds and four assists.
Missouri snapped a five-game losing skid Thursday with a home win over 14th-ranked Bri Kulas had 26 points and 12 rebounds.
Kulas leads the team with averages of 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. The Tigers also boast the top 3-point shooter in the league in sophomore Morgan Eye, who averages 3.6 3s per game.
Missouri leads the SEC in 3-pointers per game with 8.3 made. The Tigers come in at No. 1 in defensive rebound percentage at 70.4.
