Mitchell picks OSU as expected
Saturday afternoon in front of a national television audience on NBC, Mitchell announced his intentions to join Meyer as an Ohio State Buckeye.
The Buckeyes have held an edge for the Rivals100 standout since the summer months, but other schools were in the mix.
As a senior, Mitchell recorded more than 170 tackles and was a menacing presence in the middle of the Plano (Texas) Prestonwood defense.
Mitchell also was a key contributor as a short yardage back on offense as well as a return man on special teams. Mitchell began his high school days as a sophomore linebacker at Plano Prestonwood Christian before transferring to Plano West as a junior.
He earned all-area honors for his play at defensive end before transferring back to Prestonwood Christian for his senior season.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Mitchell is the Buckeyes' 21st commitment of the 2013 recruiting class and the sixth Rivals100 commitment.
He is ranked No. 3 in the Rivals.com Texas Top 100 and is one of two Ohio State commitments from Texas.
