Top 20 2013 prospect visits AU

Tony Barbee's Elite Camp in Auburn last Friday attracted nearly 70 prospects. The group consisted mainly of 2012 recruits, but there were several 2013 prospects in attendance including Memphis (Tenn.) East four-star forward Nick King.

The 6-foot-7, 215-pound King, ranked by Rivals as the No. 20 overall prospect and No. 6 small forward in the 2013 class, was making his first visit to Auburn.

"Coach (Tony) Madlock took us around campus and showed us everything," said King. "The campus is real nice. They had a lot of new things and a lot of nice buildings.

"It was nice. I really liked it. I liked everything about it."

Following the tour, King and the other players went through drills, divided into teams and scrimmaged inside Auburn's new Arena.

"The Arena is nice. It was fun getting to play in there," said King. "The whole camp was fun. Charles Barkley spoke to us; we did some drills and then they let us play."

Before leaving Auburn, King had the chance to speak with members of the Tigers coaching staff including Madlock.

"I got to talk with Coach Madlock and I got to talk to Coach Barbee, too," said King. "They are real cool guys and great coaches. Coach Madlock is recruiting me and I really like him. He's a cool person, real down to earth."

King currently claims offers from Auburn, Memphis, Georgetown, Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma State, and is receiving interest from North Carolina, Marquette, Miami, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.

He said he doesn't have any favorites at this point.

"No schools are sticking out," said King. "I'm not in any hurry to narrow things down. There are a lot of schools that I like."

After last Friday, Auburn may be one of them.

"I had a good time," he said. "I liked everything. I like Auburn."

As a sophomore in 23 games, King averaged 18.9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
