DT Thornton excited over Michigan offer

The defensive tackle position was a major need for Michigan in the class of 2009, but two Signing Day decommitments left the Wolverines still short of the numbers they required. That need has carried over to the class of 2010 and one defensive tackle prospect they are targeting is Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson's Mike Thornton.

Rivals.com ranks Thornton as the No. 40 defensive tackle prospect in the country. He recorded 95 tackles and four sacks as a junior for Stephenson High.
