Georgia QB impressed by Iowa visit

A month ago, the Iowa Hawkeyes were the first team to offer a scholarship to Georgia quarterback Hutson Mason. This weekend, the 6-foot-2, 190-pound Mason made his way out to Iowa City to get a closer look at the program during spring practice. We caught up with the quarterback, who threw for 3,705 yards and 28 touchdowns last season, to get his thoughts on the trip to Iowa and much more.

Q: Can you kind of take me through what all you got to do at Iowa today?

MASON: Well, right when we first got there, I signed in and they took us down to watch film with the quarterbacks and Coach O'Keefe. After that, they took us on a tour of the facilities and I was very impressed. I was also very impressed with the strength and conditioning coach, Coach Doyle. I love his resume, where he's been and what he does with Iowa's players there. Then we went out and watched the scrimmage.

As a junior, Mason completed 292 of 420 passes (69.5%) for 3,705 yards and 30 touchdowns. After leading Lassiter High School to a 9-3 record in 2008, he earned first team all-state honors and was named offensive player of the year in Georgia's Class 5A by the Associated Press.
