Practice report: UA begins Georgia prep

The Alabama football team began preparations for its second Southeastern Conference road test at Georgia with a practice in shells (helmets, shoulder pads) at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility Monday. Here are some observations from the media viewing period from

*** Three players who had minor injuries in Saturday's win at Arkansas - Javier Arenas, Rolando McClain and Josh Chapman - were all fully cleared for participation in practice. Coach Nick Saban noted both Saturday and Monday that he didn't believe any of the three would miss practice time. There were no players wearing black (non-contact) jerseys for injury reasons.

*** There were no apparent depth changes with the first or second groups at any position. Right tackle John Michael Boswell was the first sub on the offensive line for the second game in a row Saturday, but was back with the second group in practice Monday.

*** Scout team update: Freshmen Michael Williams and Glenn Harbin wore jersey No.99, that of Georgia's Jarius Wynn. ... Demetrius Goode wore No.24, that of Georgia star running back Knowshon Moreno. ... Linebacker Charlie Kirschman wore No.55, that of Georgia's Jeremy Lomax.

*** UA will return to the practice field Tuesday afternoon with a full-pad workout.

*** Stay with for a Monday evening notebook from player interviews.
