Harbin makes commitment

After months of having the Alabama Crimson Tide at the top of his lists of favorites, McGill-Toolen defensive lineman Glenn Harbin officially formalized his allegiance to Alabama with a verbal commitment on Tuesday.

Harbin had indicated in recent interviews that Alabama and South Carolina had pulled away from a list of suitors that had also included North Carolina, Auburn, Florida among others. In the end, the Tide's long-standing relationship with the 6-foot-6, 250-pound defensive end won out.

Harbin lined up at defensive end for McGill-Toolen his junior and senior years, amassing 127 tackles and 15 sacks over the two-year period. He is regarded as a high-upside prospect with an enormous wing-span and good athleticism.

A four-star prospect, Harbin will go from commitment to signee next Wednesday at 8:30 at a signing ceremony at his school. A 3.0 student, Harbin is a full academic qualifier.
