Lawrence talks about his Ole Miss visit

One of the hottest prospects in the southeast is Lucedale (George County HS), Miss. cornerback Alonzo Lawrence.

After an outstanding showing in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game in Mobile, Ala. last month, Lawrence's stock skyrocketed and he quickly gained an increase to his star rating from Rivals.com to a four star prospect after impressing recruiting experts in attendance.

This weekend, Lawrence took an official visit to Ole Miss and left impressed, but says he won't make a decision until signing day.

"It went pretty good," Lawrence said Sunday morning. "The coaches were really cool."

Despite a positive experience on the visit, Lawrence said he remains wide open with his three schools at the top - Ole Miss, Alabama, and Miami.

While it was reported earlier that Florida State had made a move on Lawrence, the prospect said he has just a top three.

Lawrence visited Alabama last weekend and it was reported the Tide was in the lead; however, Lawrence said on Sunday that he doesn't have a leader.

Lawrence said he'll visit Miami this coming weekend and won't make his decision know to where he'll pursue his college career until signing day (Feb. 6).

Lawrence was hosted by Rebel cornerback Cassius Vaughn, who he called "pretty cool."

"We just chilled," Lawrence said. "We went out on Saturday night and it was good to see some friends."

Lawrence specifically mentioned his friends as a group from South Panola, several who participated in the All-Star game with him.

Lawrence said it wasn't his first trip to Oxford, but he still was impressed with a closer look at the facilities.

"It's nice at Ole Miss," Lawrence said. "The IPF, the facilities, and even the practice fields are nice."

Overall, Lawrence said he rated his visit a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Lawrence said he has a 15 on the ACT and will re-take the test on Feb. 2. He was unsure of his GPA.

Lawrence is the 39th-ranked prospect nationally per Rivals.
