Harris visits UA back to back

Gadsden City linebacker Jerrell Harris is one of the top uncommitted prospects remaining the state of Alabama's uncommonly strong 2008 recruiting class. Harris, who holds offers from nearly every major program in the country, has spent the last two weekends attending games in Tuscaloosa, including this Saturday's overtime slugfest against Georgia.

"I went to Alabama this weekend and last and you couldn't ask for a better game experience. Those fans are crazy and I had a good time. Some of them were chanting my name last week and I was surprised because I didn't know they knew who I was. That was nice," Harris said. "I watched the game especially the defense and I thought they played hard. They have some good linebackers but I see an opportunity for playing time there. I like how aggressive their defensive scheme is. I'll be going back again before the season is over."

At the moment Harris, the nation's No. 7 outside linebacker, is still taking his time with the recruiting process and will take several more visits before trimming down his list of favorites and making a decision.

"I'm not worried about cutting my list down yet. I'm going to focus on my senior year and then make those decision but I will be gathering as much information as possible in the meantime," Harris said. "I will be going to Alabama-LSU, Alabama-Auburn, Florida-LSU and USC-UCLA for unofficial visits. I haven't set up an official visits yet but I'll do that when my season is over."

On the field, Harris and his Gadsden City Titans have made a strong showing thus far this year but dropped their first loss of the season this week.

"We lost our first game of the year Friday to Oxford. We have to continue to get better on defense. We had done a good job so far but when the offense struggles we need to force some turnovers," Harris said. "We've got a long way to go and we need to bounce back this week and make a statement. We'll get better."
