Sports is increasingly marketed to us by its stars. Maybe it started with Michael Jordan. Maybe it dates back 100 years to the debut of Babe Ruth. But it is the case - most fans follow a team or two diligently, even, like many Alabama football fans, religiously. But to engage them across the spectrum, there have to be stars.
