Eagles get clutch hit in eighth inning to edge Tide

HATTIESBURG, Miss. | Southern Mississippi got a game-winning RBI single from pinch hitter Breck Kline with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 victory over the No. 21 University of Alabama on Wednesday night.

The Golden Eagles (4-5) got the leadoff batter aboard in the eighth inning when Mason Robbins singled to right field. After a sacrifice bunt moved Robbins to second, Alabama reliever Taylor Guilbeau intentionally walked Dylan Burdeaux to put runners on first and second. Southern Miss went to the bench and Kline delivered a single to left field. Robbins beat the throw home to score the game-winning run.
