Tide finishes strong, downs No. 5 Georgia

The University of Alabama gymnastics team did not lead in the meet against No. 5 Georgia until the judges tallied the final rotation.

Thanks to four scores more than 9.9 on floor exercise, and two falls from Georgia on balance beam, the No. 7 Crimson Tide defeated No. 5 Georgia 197.5 to 196.825 Friday night in Coleman Coliseum.

It was Alabama's highest score of the season, not only on the stat sheet but in Crimson Tide coach Sarah Patterson's opinion, too.
