Scouting Cal DE signee Jonathan Johnson

Cal received a pleasant surprise and some big help at a need position when Pierce CC defensive end Jonathan Johnson flipped his commitment from Arizona State to the Golden Bears and signed his LOI to enroll at Cal in January. After the decommitment of Dekaney's Isadore Outing earlier this week, Johnson becomes Cal's lone defensive end commitment for the 2014 class. Johnson is yet another 2 to play 2 signee.

After a freshman year lost due to injury, Johnson was a force for Pierce in his sophomore season and a big reason that the Brahmas finished the year 9-2, 6-1 in conference play, and leading their conference in both total defense and scoring defense. A dominant passrusher, he was named the Defensive Player of the Year in the Pacific Conference's American Division in recognition of his efforts.
