Alabama, Auburn defenses stiffen in red zone

In many cases, big games come down to which team can get it done inside the 20s.

This season, few opposing teams have done that efficiently against Alabama or Auburn, a red zone trend favoring both teams that adds some intrigue to this year's big-ticket Iron Bowl.

Alabama's defense has allowed teams to enter the red zone only 20 times, tied with Michigan State for fewest in the nation, and has allowed nine touchdowns and three field goals. The 60 percent conversion percentage allowed is tied for second nationally, and allowing touchdowns on just 45 percent of red zone trips ranks No. 1.
