Friday Night Lights Rewind: Cal's commits in Week 11
All hail our touchdown-throwing Arizona overlord! That, plus some seasons end while others roll on in this edition of Friday Night Lights Rewind.
Luke Rubenzer, Quarterback (Saguaro High-Scottsdale, AZ)
In a 62-21 first round playoff stomping of Washington High, Luke Rubenzer became Arizona's all-time career leader in touchdown passes. And in typical Rubenzer style, he did it with the kind of absurd stat line we've come to expect from him... 17-for-20 for 256 yards and SIX touchdown passes. Sprinkle in the 10 carries for another 151 yards and a rushing score, and Luke did what Luke does. With a major personal accomplishment under his belt, Rubenzer will be focusing on getting Saguaro past Sabino High (9-2) this Friday night in quarterfinal action.
Vic Enwere, Running Back (Fort Bend Austin-Sugarland, TX)
In the regular season finale, Enwere and the Fort Bend Bulldogs pulled a huge upset as they defeated District champ Fort Bend Elkins, 38-35. For those concerned that Vic was padding his stats against inferior competition, he went off to the tune of 284 yards and three touchdowns (including a 93-yarder) on the Knights. This was Elkins' only loss in District, and the win moves Austin's regular season record to 5-5. The Bulldogs went 5-2 in District play after starting the season 0-3. Next up is a playoff game against Clear Springs on (6-4) on Saturday.
