Nation's No. 1 receiver talks Card

Urbandale (Iowa) receiver Allen Lazard, the top-ranked receiver in the Rivals 100, was offered by Stanford last Friday. But the Cardinal could face an uphill battle in recruiting Lazard, who committed to Iowa State last December.

Lazard's ties to the Cyclone program run deep. His father, Kevin, played for Iowa State from 1990-1993. Allen's older brother, Anthony, is currently a linebacker on the team.

Lazard said it would take something "drastic" for him to reconsider his Cyclone commitment, and "at the same time (I would need to) feel very comfortable going to another university," Lazard said.

Still, there does appear to be some degree of interest in the Cardinal. Lazard has already spoken with the Stanford coaches twice, first over the weekend when he received the offer, and again on Tuesday.
