Officer talks Syracuse

Rochester (N.Y.) Eastridge offensive tackle Alexander Officer looks to be one of the top high school football players in New York State for the class of 2013. He already claims a few offers and one of them is from Syracuse.

Since the 6-foot-4, 290 pound prospect lives close to Syracuse he has been able to view the campus already.

"I have been down for a few games and I will be going down for a junior day," Officer said. The junior day will be the last week of the month."

What exactly does he think of the Empire State school when he goes on his visits?

"It is just a very nice place to be and there is always a lot of fan support."

Overall he likes the direction Syracuse is headed. He also likes that they are close enough so his family would be able to watch him in college.

"I think that they have a lot of potential to be a very good team. It seems like it would be a great place to play because it is really close and my family can come watch me."

If Officer were to pick Syracuse a position is not set in stone even though he plays tackle in high school.

"Syracuse is looking for me to play anyplace on the offensive line. I do not mind any position because I pull from my tackle spot like a guard."

Outside of Syracuse and Pittsburgh who have offered a couple other names have popped up.

"I am being looked at by Rutgers, Boston College, and Virginia has been sending me stuff and some others."

With offers in hand already it does not mean there will be an early decision nor does he have any early leaders.

"I do not have any early favorites right now. I am just taking my time," Officer said. "I don't have a special date I am just going to wait and probably take my officials."
