Four-star WR sets visits

Four-star wide receiver Damiere Byrd has a number of scholarship offers, but is currently focusing on three schools that he wants to make official visits to this fall. Those are Iowa, South Carolina, and Ole Miss, and the 5-foot-9, 160-pound Byrd already has dates set for his first two trips.

"I'm going out to Iowa on October 2 to watch them play Penn State," said Byrd. "Then, the week after that, I'm going to South Carolina on October 9."

Byrd has been to South Carolina before, but never to the state of Iowa. The New Jersey native looks forward to seeing a game at Kinnick Stadium and getting to know more about the college atmosphere in Iowa City.

As a junior, Byrd did a little bit of everything for Timber Creek, finishing with 605 yards receiving, 685 yards rushing, and 14 touchdowns. He is also one of the top sprinters in the state of New Jersey, winning Group 3 titles in the 100, 200, and 400 in May. At the meet of champions, Byrd placed second in the 100-meter dash, but ran his fastest time of the season, a blazing 10.42 seconds.

This off-season, Byrd posted one of the top SPARQ ratings nationally after he turned in a 4.26 forty, a 4.18 shuttle, and a 35" vertical at the Philadelphia Nike Combine.

Currently, the four-star prospect plans to make his college decision after the football season.
