Bucks on the board for 2012
The class of 2012 is now officially on the board for the Buckeyes with Galena (Ohio) Olentangy high school linebacker Josh Perry making his pledge to the Buckeyes on Tuesday night. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder picked up a verbal offer at the Ohio State camp and it didn't take Perry long to decide that was the offer he was wanting.
Perry was a player that was hard to miss at the camp and was one of the best players on the field regardless of class. That is a lofty compliment based on some of the players that he shared the field with at the Woody Hayes Athletic Complex over the weekend.
The lone 2012 commit is still not sure where he will play on the field when he joins the Buckeyes. Perry will only be entering his junior year this upcoming season and has plenty of time to potentially grow.
"It is kind of a wait and see," Perry said in a Monday night interview with BuckeyeGrove.com. "(The coaches and myself) talked about it and they figure I could be playing defensive end or tight end if I grow a couple of inches. If I stay the same size however I could be playing linebacker."
Perry has locked in his spot in a class that will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 14-17 spots likely. Linebacker will be a position that will receive some attention along with defensive line. The state of Ohio will be deep at both spots and the level of competition will be very high.
We will have more on this brand new commitment including reaction from Perry himself as soon as possible.
