This thread was posted on Sunday, 5/27, but there's been so little response that I thought I might reword it. I just wanted to start a big recognition thread to all who have served our country to keep the rest of us safe: especially those who made the supreme sacrifice. I wish I could beam us to Arlington, Va. for paying respects; it is so beautiful, but the hills of white crosses tell a sad story indeed. I would like to pay a personal tribute to and I hope others will follow:

Lt. Col. Ira Mauzey, USAF, my uncle

May all who passed away in any war or confrontation be most blessed as with their families, and may those who were injured in battle but are still here among us, may the Lord keep you forever close and help you to lift your spirits unto him. Amen. I hope you'll pay tribute to your loved ones.

I tell my two daughters all the time that the true heroes are our military personnel not Justin Dweeber. Every time they see a soldier in uniform they point him out to me. They are all heroes in my eye and would like to say THANK YOU to them all.

Thanks to you guys for your participating, and recognition of all our heros. My uncle Mauzey served in Burma in WWII (he was an Assam Dragon), Korea, Vietnam, and they had to finally force him into duty at the Pentagon. The stresses of being a fighter pilot, or any service member finally took his health, and his life. Just one story among our many warriors, both men and women.

It is shocking to me that Jim Brown and Nick Fairley take presedence over why this day is set apart from all others in the year. I only mentioned a relative because I know his story, but he is one of many Alabama, and Bama folks who deserve for their names to be called out in remembrance.

The word "thanks" is insufficient to honor and appreciate all who have and will serve to protect our freedoms and those who can't defend themselves.  For those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, we will forever be in debt.

May God bless and keep these brave soldiers and their families.

Words like 'hero' & 'thank you' are so oft used that when you really need them, they under serve. I wish I could coin a term or terms that would satisfy my/our need and desire to express supreme love & appreciation for those who gave all. To my knowledge, I don't know any of them...yet they sacrificed for me/you. Thank you GOD for these brave heroes/warriors/patriots! Amen!

I grew up during the Vietnam era when our military was not appreciated by many to say the least. I am proud today that as a country we show much more respect .... whether it is saying thanking you or giving up a first class seat .....or supporting projects like Wounded Warriors.

I sell Guy Harvey shirts in my stores and he has made a shirt for the 5 Branches -- Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force. $2.00 from the sale of every shirt goes to Wounded Warriors./ Birdies For The Brave ... when we first started stocking the shirts a you man came in and  bought all 5 designs, 2 colors each, and when I asked if he had family in the military his answer was "no but I support our Military, our country and Wounded Warriors".  Made me proud of this new generation.
