I agree Alabama is a good place to be born, raised and visit but I wouldn't choose to live there as an informed adult. The offensive right wing crap is too much to deal with and quite frankly embarrassing.

I love my family in Alabama and I am a Bama fan despite the extremely distasteful political viewpoints and racial bigotry I encounter on a regular basis from my family and other folks in Alabama. Unfortunately that sort of viewpoint is consistently exhibited on the football discussion boards by a lot of Bama fans.

The first lady looks like a gorilla? Really!!!!! Sad commentary, that can only be interpreted as racial bigotry.

This is a Democratic country thank the lord. The President and first lady should be respected. I did so with Bush and his wife Barbara, even though GWB could hardly put together a coherent statement even with a teleprompter. GWB has been quoted as saying that the best way for the country to prosper economically is through going to war. I kid you not.

This thread should be deleted immediately, if not sooner.

Well PLEASE don't ever move back to this state... I personally love the way it is and hope and pray it never changes. It's like the conservative ways of this great country we live in...If you don't like foundation this country was built upon, by that foundation, it is in your every right to leave it,as you did Alabama, so I say, Thank you sir for moving out.

Seriously, it is my pleasure. I assure you don't have to say please. I do however disagree vehemently with your premise that this country was founded on a conservative foundation. I guess you did not follow the founding fathers too closely. lol

Depends on how you define "conservative". My definition of the word is to run this country the way our founding fathers intended it to be run. I assure you it was not intended to be run by a bunch of Atheist, Gay, Tree Hugging, PETA member, ACLU crooked azz lawyers. The founding Fathers gave all they had for this country. Some gave their lives and some lost all they had, and they were proud to do it. Any one of them would've stepped in front of a bullet for you or myself if they thought it would better the country. The people leading this country today would push us in the way to keep from getting hit themselves. Just about everyone in Congress is in there for themselves, NOT this country. It's the power that comes with these positions is what they are after. If you think anyone in congress or the President gives a rip what happens to you or me, you are sadly mistaken.

Have you ever checked into Thomas Jefferson's religious beliefs? Either you are extremely misinformed on the subject you speak of or you're just denying the truth of at least one of our founding fathers.

[N]o man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer, on account of his religious opinions or belief; but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge, or affect their civil capacities.
-- Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom (1779), quoted from Merrill D Peterson, ed, Thomas Jefferson: Writings (1984), p. 347

I am for freedom of religion, & against all maneuvres to bring about a legal ascendancy of one sect over another.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Elbridge Gerry, 1799 (see Positive Atheism's Historical section)

I never will, by any word or act, bow to the shrine of intolerance, or admit a right of inquiry into the religious opinions of others.
-- Thomas Jefferson, letter to Edward Dowse, April 19, 1803

The 'Wall of Separation,' Again:
Because religious belief, or non-belief, is such an important part of every person's life, freedom of religion affects every individual. Religious institutions that use government power in support of themselves and force their views on persons of other faiths, or of no faith, undermine all our civil rights. Moreover, state support of an established religion tends to make the clergy unresponsive to their own people, and leads to corruption within religion itself. Erecting the "wall of separation between church and state," therefore, is absolutely essential in a free society.
We have solved, by fair experiment, the great and interesting question whether freedom of religion is compatible with order in government and obedience to the laws. And we have experienced the quiet as well as the comfort which results from leaving every one to profess freely and openly those principles of religion which are the inductions of his own reason and the serious convictions of his own inquiries.
-- Thomas Jefferson, to the Virginia Baptists (1808) ME 16:320. This is his second kown use of the term "wall of separation," here quoting his own use in the Danbury Baptist letter. This wording of the original was several times upheld by the Supreme Court as an accurate description of the Establishment Clause: Reynolds (98 US at 164, 1879); Everson (330 US at 59, 1947); McCollum (333 US at 232, 1948)

A democracy is only as strong as the people who live in it. Are you going to elevate the debate, or debase it with unsubstantiated spite? Limbaugh, Olberman and the like, are leading us in one direction but we don't have to follow them.

That is exactly what is worrying the hell out of me. This country is politically polarized in a very unhealthy way. The extreme right wing and left wing sides of the argument are making it tough for us moderates to exist in the area in between the two.

You go cebrooks and Mistertoddm. Been around a long time and it saddens me to see the stated "hatred" and disrespect for the POTUS. And so open about it. Disagree all you want with his politics and express that disagreement on the many political sites available or at the ballot box come November. Using words such as hatred to express disagreement shows a lack of vocabulary to adequately and intelligently express one's disagreement. And keep those posts away from this site. RTR!!!!!!!

You people are a sad, angry bunch. This closed mindedness is why I say "Alabama is good place to be FROM!".

You may not like the Obama's, but to say the things you have sad says a lot about who you are. I guess you think Trayvon Martin got what he deserved too. Don't forget, if you ever put enough money together to visit the nation's capitol, go to the Newseum and see the KKK outfit. It might give you the warm and fuzzies. Right!

By the way: God is still God even if you don't believe in Him. But if you do believe in Him and discussed the Obama's as has been done on this thread, then that says even more about you.

RTR! closed minded people.
