BIO NOTES

2006 (Sophomore): Rivals.com tabbed Jones as the nation's No. 5 kick returner and the country's No. 3 backup running back. He was also one of only two true sophomores named preseason All-America by Rivals.com. Jones is the second-team return man on the list. McFadden is the other true sophomore on the A-A list at second-team all-purpose. With McFadden's off-season toe injury, Jones assumed the starting role in fall camp and peformed well. He had a great spring.

2005 (Freshman): He was among the top four UA signees in February, but his play was still surprising. Jones runs tough between the tackles, and he can get to the outside quickly for extra yardage. He stays low to the ground naturally, and another good sign is he has proven durable. Jones finshed third all-time on the freshman rushing list at Arkansas with 626 yards on only 99 carries (6.3 yards per rush). He topped 60 yards six times and 100 yards twice. He earned freshman All-America honors last season as a kick returner, and he was also named a freshman All-American.

Personal: Jones rushed for 2,282 yards and 41 touchdowns on just 205 carries (11.1 yards per rush). His stock shot through the roof as he returned from an injury as a junior, and he is currently rated among the nation's top 250 prospects with a four-star rating. Jones took an official visit to Arkansas on the Jan. 21 weekend, and he picked the Razorbacks over offers from Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

Scouting Reports

The good: Jones has the quickness to be a difference-maker as a runner, receiver or kick returner. 1
He has the quick burst to get through the hole, and boasts the ability to get to top speed quickly. As a receiver, he has a good sense of route-running. Though he may be best as a third-down back, he could surprise as a change-of-pace runner with the ability to create some interesting mismatches on early downs.

The bad: He wasn’t an every-down back at Arkansas; can he be one in the NFL? While he shows the willingness to block, his limited experience in handling that assignment could hurt his early playing time.
