BIO NOTES
2006 (Sophomore): He appeared in 12 of the Razorbacks’ 14 games, sitting out the first two games of the season (USC and Utah State) while teammate Stephen Arnold handled placement kick duties. He earned the starting place-kicking job in pre-game warm-ups prior to the Vanderbilt game. He started out 3-for-3 in the field goal department, but struggled down the stretch nailing only three of his next nine field goal attempts. He was 6-of-13 on field goal attempts for the season including a career-long field goal conversion from 44 yards. Five of his seven field goal misses came from 40 yards or beyond. He also handled extra points for the Razorbacks in the final 12 games hitting 46-of-48 attempts. He ranked third on the team with 64 points. He earned Hogwired.com Special Teams Player of the Week honors twice on the season (Auburn and Southeast Missouri State). – He took over place-kicking duties for Arnold after the two competed the week prior to the Vanderbilt game and in pre-game warm-ups. He earned his first collegiate experience at place-kicker against the Commodores. The playing time was the first for Davis since punting against LSU in the 2004 season finale against LSU (Nov. 26), a span of 659 days between game action. He nailed three extra point attempts against the Commodores. He appeared to have hit his first collegiate field goal attempt from 44 yards against Vanderbilt, however, Arkansas was called for an illegal formation. Following the penalty, Arkansas elected to go for it on fourth down rather than attempt another placement kick. He made his first career field goal (24 yards) and made 1-of-2 PAT attempts in the Hogs’ win over Alabama. He missed a PAT in the third quarter, but later redeemed himself by kicking an extra point in the second overtime to clinch the 24-23 victory. Davis earned Hogwired.com special teams’ honors for his nine-point performance in Arkansas’ upset of No. 2 Auburn. He converted a then career-long 34-yard long field goal in the first quarter to open the scoring and closed the scoring with a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. In between the two field goal attempts, he converted three extra points. Davis became the fourth kicker in school history to convert nine PAT in a game when he split the uprights for nine points in Arkansas’ 63-7 win over Southeast Missouri State. He matched Chris Balseiro (2004), Kendall Trainor (1988) and Elvin Geiser (1933). He didn’t attempt a field goal against the Redhawks. He scored eight points in Arkansas’ 38-3 win over Ole Miss. He was perfect on five extra points and made 1-of-2 field goals against the Rebels. His first miss of the season came on a 54-yard attempt at the end of the half. He later connected on a career-long 44-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. The 44-yard field goal was the longest by a Razorback since David Carlton hit a 47-yard field goal at Tennessee in 2002. He was perfect on six extra points in Arkansas’ 44-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe. Davis missed a 48-yard field goal in his only field goal attempt of the game. He made 1-of-2 field goal attempts and scored a total of six points in the Razorbacks’ 26-20 win over South Carolina. He converted on a 19-yard field goal attempt in the third quarter, but missed on a 41-yard attempt in the fourth quarter. He was perfect on three extra point attempts against the Gamecocks. Davis connected on a 28-yard field goal and four extra points in Arkansas’ 31-14 win over Tennessee. His 28-yard field goal came in the fourth quarter and provided the final Razorback scoring in the win. He missed a 46-yard attempt and had a 24-yard field goal attempt blocked in the Hogs’ 28-14 win over Mississippi State. He did connect on four PAT in the victory. Davis didn’t attempt a field goal, but made two of three PAT kicks against No. 9 LSU. He missed his first PAT attempt of the game, but made his final two extra point attempts. Davis missed a 40-yard field goal attempt, but connected on four extra points against Florida in the SEC Championship Game. He missed on his fourth-consecutive field goal attempt when he pushed a 30-yard attempt wide of the uprights on the Hogs’ opening drive against No. 7 Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl. He was perfect on two extra point attempts against the Badgers.
2005 (Redshirt): He traveled as a backup to punter Jacob Skinner, but did not see game action. The season served as his redshirt season.
2004 (Freshman): After backing Jacob Skinner for the first five games, he earned an opportunity to punt at No. 4 Auburn. He handled punting duties for the second half against the Tigers and the final five games of the season. He punted a total of 25 times for 979 yards for a 39.2 yards-per-punt average. He landed six punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line and forced eight fair catches. He also registered two 50+ yard punts. For his efforts he was named to the SEC Coaches’ All-Freshman squad. – He punted three times for 136 yards (45.3 avg.) against the Tigers. He recorded punts of 38, 43 and 55 yards in his collegiate debut. His 55-yard punt was his first career kick inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. He punted eight times for 290 yards (36.2 avg.), including forcing four fair catches, against No. 6 Georgia. He placed three punts inside the 20-yard line and launched a long punt of 53 yards. He tallied an average of 43.0 yards per kick on three punts (129 yards) against South Carolina. He forced one fair catch by the Gamecocks. His long punt against USC was 44 yards. He punted five times for 193 yards (38.6 avg.) in the Hogs’ 35-3 win over Ole Miss. He launched a long of 44 yards. He landed one punt inside the 20 and forced one fair catch against the Rebels. He punted only twice for 83 yards in the Razorbacks’ 24-21 win over Mississippi State. He earned an average of 41.5 yards per kick against the Bulldogs, including a long punt of 49 yards. He punted four times for 148 yards (37.0 avg.) against No. 12 LSU. He landed one punt inside the 20 and forced one fair catch against the Tigers. An LSU return man fumbled his punt in the second quarter and UA teammate Pierre Brown recovered to set up an Arkansas touchdown.
Personal: Born Aug. 20, 1985, he is the son of Donny and Kim Davis. His father, Donny, played golf for the University of Arkansas. He is enrolled in the College of Education and Health Professions and is majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis on teaching. He was a member of the 2006-07 SEC Academic Honor Roll. Davis was also named to the Lon Farrell Academic Honor Roll for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 academic years, and was named a Hard Working Hog for the 2005-06 academic year.
High School: He was a three-year letterman at Fort Smith Southside High School as a placekicker and a punter. He was named to the all-state and all-conference teams his senior year and averaged 45.8 yards per punt. He made a career long 51-yard field goal in high school. He was elected co-captain of his team as a senior and also received all-state honors as a golfer.
