February 24, 2013TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama women's basketball team will play its final home game of the month when it hosts Florida today at Foster Auditorium
The Crimson Tide and Gators will be meeting for the 53rd time overall and second time this season. The Gators won the first game, 87-54.
Alabama leads the series, 29-23. However, Florida has claimed three of the last four meetings.
The Crimson Tide lost its last game, 75-51 at Mississippi State, for its seventh straight loss. Redshirt sophomore Kaneisha Horn led Alabama in scoring with 16 points, in addition to eight rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Senior Meghan Perkins collected a team-high 10 rebounds and four blocks.
Over its last seven games, Alabama has struggled offensively, managing an average of 58.3 points, shooting 32.1 percent from the floor. Daisha Simmons continues to lead the Crimson Tide in scoring with an average of 12.8 points per game. She is followed by Shafontaye Myers, who adds 11.5 points per contest. Horn has been Alabama's top rebounder so far, pulling down 5.5 boards per contest while Perkins adds another 5.4 rebounds.
Florida has lost its last three games by an average of 7.6 points to teams at the top of the league, including Texas A&M, Georgia and, most recently, Vanderbilt.
