TUSCALOOSA | University of Alabama Director of Athletics Mal Moore was admitted into DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa Tuesday night with an irregular heartbeat, UA officials have confirmed.

"Coach Moore was admitted as a precautionary measure and is doing fine," said Dr. James B. Robinson, Mr. Moore's personal physician.

Further details remain unclear.

Moore, 72, has been UA's athletic director since 1999.

Alabama's football building was dedicated in Moore's name in 2007, and he was elected to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame last year.

Moore coached football at Alabama for 22 seasons, initially under legendary coach Paul W. "Bear" Bryant, and later for Gene Stallings as an offensive coordinator.
