August 3, 2012TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama opened fall camp Friday, launching preparations for its defense of the 2011 BCS championship. Here are some observations from the media viewing period from Tidesports.com:
*** As expected, no players were in black, non-contact jerseys for injury reasons. The Crimson Tide enters fall camp 2012 in complete health, including running back Eddie Lacy, offensive lineman Arie Kouandjio and running back Blake Sims, who missed spring drills with injuries.
*** Quarterback AJ McCarron looked sharp in practice and threw to seven receivers at the veterans-only practice, along with redshirt freshman quarterback Phillip Ely.
*** Redshirt freshman Brent Calloway continued to work at the H-back position, where he was switched from linebacker during spring drills.
