HOOVER | The University of Alabama placed five first-team selections on the 2012 Preseason Media Days All-SEC team, including three-time selection Barrett Jones, and 12 overall players named to the team.

Alabama was picked to finish second in the Southeastern Conference Western Division. LSU was picked to win the division and the SEC championship. Alabama was second only to LSU in votes to win the league. Georgia was picked to win the SEC East.

Jones was joined by guard Chance Warmack and tackle D.J. Fluker on the first-team offense, giving the Crimson Tide three of the five offensive line selections. Linebacker Nico Johnson and safety Robert Lester were first-team selections on defense.

Alabama had running back Eddie Lacy on the second team along with four defensive selections: linemen Jesse Williams and Damion Square, linebacker C.J. Mosley and defensive back Dee Milliner.
Quarterback AJ McCarron and tight end Michael Williams were third-team picks on offense. Alabama had no third-teamers on defense and no players on special teams.

LSU had the most overall players voted to the team at 13, three less than Alabama's record-setting 16 last year.
The team, voted on by 222 media representatives at SEC Media Days, was released Thursday.
