March 22, 2012TUSCALOOSA | If you're sitting in Rama Jama's for lunch Friday and think former New York Giants coach Bill Parcells is at the next table, or touring the Bryant Museum and swear that's former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz checking out the exhibits, you may not be mistaken.
More than 1,000 high school football coaches will descend on the University of Alabama this weekend for coach Nick Saban's annual coaching clinic, and some of the speakers scheduled to headline the event have plenty of name recognition.
"I think we've got a pretty stellar lineup. Bill Parcells and Lou Holtz are probably as fine a speakers as (possible). Bill Parcells usually doesn't do this type of thing, so this is kind of an exclusive with him coming here," Saban said. "Lou Holtz is a phenomenal speaker."
Others scheduled to speak include Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, San Diego Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano, special teams expert Gary Zauner, former FSU defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews, former UA running back Bobby Humphrey and others.
Along with hearing an array of speakers, high school coaches will observe practice this weekend, and will have a chance to learn not only from Saban but from UA assistant coaches as well.
"Our clinic philosophy is, it's our one way we can serve the high school coaches and give back professionally the most we possibly can by having a quality clinic and spending as much time as we possibly can," Saban said.
